Compare and contrast

I posted a dial detail photo of the Malte Openface Retrograding Perpetual Calendar last week that will help to highlight a detail worth noting in the Quai de l'Ile. First, in the Malte, we see that the days and months are painted on a sapphire cyrstal:



In the Quai de l'Ile we see black ink to mark the date on the sapphire chrystal that is the dial of the watch, but this time it fills a laser-engraved space. This gives both a sense of depth to the dial as well as a crispness in the printing that, quite frankly, looks better:



The affect if noticeable not only in these marco shots but also in experiencing these watches with the eyes from normal distances.

calendar functions as to highlight the day and date. In the automatic QDI the same principle is used for the date.
