Vacheron Constantin Malte Tourbillon Openworked ION Boutique Singapore Edition

Mar 05, 2015,20:24 PM

To commemorate the opening of the new Singapore ION Boutique, Vacheron Constantin issues a 3-piece limited edition boutique exclusive tonneau-shaped Malte Tourbillon Openworked powered by its new in-house Calibre 2790 SQ.

A quick relook of the cosy reception at the ION Boutique this week for guests to discover the Vacheron Constantin Malte Tourbillon Openworked ION Boutique Edition.

The evening kicked off with Ms Ellen Sorensen, Managing Director of Vacheron Constantin Southeast Asia introducing some of the earlier Vacheron Constantin Openworked pieces...

and the star of the evening - Vacheron Constantin Malte Tourbillon Openworked ION Boutique Singapore.

Below are some snapshots of the Vacheron Constantin Malte Tourbillon Openworked ION Boutique Singapore ...

Tonneau-shaped platinum case of comfortable size 38.00 x 48.24 mm by12.73 mm height, housing the tonneau-shaped Caliber 2790SQ.  A special emphasis, as some tonneau-shaped watches may not customise  their movements to the case, instead use a round caliber and housed it inside a tonneau-shaped spacer.

First look, legibility is good, as there is contrast between the skeletonised / openworked calibre and the hands and tourbillon.  The 2790SQ is NAC (N-acetylcysteine) treated to blacken platine and bridges and also to provide resistance to oxidation. The cambered sapphire crystal helps to eliminate direct glare, perhaps it may improve with a double anti-reflective coatings.

Dial construction is 2-part.   The inner zone is a sapphire piece just above the platine and printed with date-subdial and also the minute-track for the small-second (right above the tourbillon cage).  The outer zone is an opaline slate-colored metal ring with printed minute-track and recessed hour-markers and an applied 12-marker.

The side profile of the platinum case with signed crown and quick-date adjuster.

On the cambered sapphire case-back, an interesting display of the Caliber 2790SQ and its highly finished openworked bridges.  The manual-winding 2790SQ beats at 2.5Hz (18,000 VPH) and has a power reserve of about 45 hours.
Water resistance is rated to 30m.

The platinum case-back is dual-polished. The word 'Limited Edition' is engraved on one side of the glossy curves.
The Poinçon de Genève mark is engraved near to each other-  on the caseback and the tourbillon bridge. The 'signature Malte Cross' bridge is centrally located between the wheels.

Each watch is specially paired with hand-stitched grey Mississippiensis alligator leather.  Matched well the dark grey treated bridges.

Lastly, two close-up (pardon for the dusts)  of both sides of the Vacheron Constantin Malte Tourbillon Openworked ION Boutique Singapore ... note the detailed beveling work of some internal and external angles.

Thanks for viewing.
