My 2012 Year in Vacheron Constantin

 By: WHL : December 31st, 2012-13:52
I have traditionally closed out the year on this forum with a review of the comings and goings of Vacheron Constantin watches in my collection. While the pace of action over the past few years has slowed down from the pace I had kept over the first half o...

That looks like a superb year for you, Bill. This vintage is gorgeous.

May you find many other treasures from thisexquisite brand this year, and share them with us! All the best. Nicolas.

I have no particular desire at this time....

 By: WHL : January 2nd, 2013-12:50
so I suppose I will be open to anything! Bill

Any Chronometre Royal in your book?

 By: amanico : January 2nd, 2013-13:07
I mean, any Vintage one? Best, Nicolas

I've owned a vintage CR manual winding....

 By: WHL : January 2nd, 2013-14:25
and it is and was a great watch. And regarding the automatic ones, see my reply to Dean below. :-) Bill

I saw! ;)

Happy New year to you Bill...

 By: yesjb : January 1st, 2013-07:31
and all the VC lovers here! That's a really lovely watch Bill. Congratulations! It's a fantastic way to get back into vintage Vacheron. Ear it in the best of health and the best of times, Joseph

Thank you, Joseph....

All the best to you in 2013. I hope that our paths will cross again this year. Bill

Superb choice Bill!

That piece is full of character - from the dial to the case and movement, it speaks of classic V&C charm...two thumbs up! Not intending to distract from you gorgeous piece, but merely to answer your closing question, here is my New Year's treat: ...

I fell in love with its white gold brother!

 By: amanico : January 1st, 2013-08:21
Not the finest, but not the less lovely CR from Vacheron. Best, And happy new year! Nicolas

More to Chronometre Royal than meets the eye!

 By: Tick Talk : January 4th, 2013-07:01
While I don't expect agreement, IMHO the "finest" CR I currently have is this deck watch: Having served on two warships during WWII, it has tremendous provenance, and damn beautiful to boot ;-) Continuing on an unorthodox Chronometre Royal theme, this CR ...

Its Jaeger Brother...

These Deck Chronos are hard to beat! Best, Nicolas ...

Brothers-In-Arms for sure,

 By: Tick Talk : January 4th, 2013-12:18
but not related horologically speaking ;-) That lovely JLC movement was the base for the V&C 162/163 series of deck chronometers, but this CR is a "pure" Vacheron & Constantin calibre - one of the last until the calibre 1400 in 2002 IIRC.

Oh, Dean

After seeing this and your former white gold version, I think I will not be able to resist one of these at some point in the future if the right one comes along. While Nicolas already commented that this may not be the finest CR, to me it is perhaps the m...

& on & on we go. :-)

Great watch.....though it is the "turnograph" model with the 1072/1 that I covet even more than the Chronometer Royale. Bill

Happy New Year, Bill!

 By: respo : January 1st, 2013-18:17
I am indeed excited for you and for your re-entry into the world of vintage V&C. What a perfect choice for you. I am glad you shared your rationale behind acquiring this piece. Your reasoning makes a lot of sense. But the main thing is that the "new" ...

Happy New Year, respo.....

 By: WHL : January 2nd, 2013-12:55
You had a great watch year in 2012 and I look forward to seeing what happens with you in 2013. I'm especially interested to see you get a truly vintage VC, and what that piece may be. Bill

Well, Bill

 By: respo : January 3rd, 2013-11:09
There are several truly vintage VCs on The List, but if and when they will happen remains to be seen. I unscuccessfully stuck my toe in the auctions waters at the end of 2012, so who knows what may happen. respo

You have on your wrist what I think is the most beautiful chrono made bar none!

I am with you on this one, Justin

I feel pretty fortunate with regard to that catch. Thanks, respo

It's a beauty, Robert!

 By: yesjb : January 5th, 2013-14:01
But I have to differ slightly. I can't make up my mind between that one and the 4178 (hint, hint) Have a great year! Joseph

Well, Joseph...

 By: respo : January 6th, 2013-09:06
I am intrigued by your hint... ;-)

Beautiful, Bill...
