It's not as fancy as some of the present day time pieces, however it is the simple elegance I appreciate. I will be bringing it down to the shop next week.

The painful way to change the date on your calibre 1121 is to cycle the hands forward until you reach the desired date. The cheat is to rock the hands back and forth between 10 and 2, or thereabouts, which should also change the date (at least it worked f... 

Thanks for the tip on the date change, it will definitely come in handy. I feel a lot safer now when I adjust the hands backwards for timing compensation. Are there any "don't"s for vintage pieces like this one?

let some mall watch & clock shop service this watch. The 1120 series is ultra-thin and ultra-fragile in the wrong hands. Sadly, there are some big name restoration shops I no longer trust so stick with VC or some trusted watchsmith with experience ser...

I agree, looks like a 44003 from the mid 1970s. I would take it to a local VC dealer to pop the back and give it a nice little tune up.
