Thoughts on the VC Patrimony world time and luxury watches in general.

Greetings to anyone reading this and I hope everyone had a great Christmas holiday. I am fortunate to have a rainy Sunday with not much to do but relax and watch American and the other type of football and muse on watches. I wanted to preface this post wi...

I can't help but it is a nice feedback

I understand the kind of feeling you have with your watch (very low resistance while winding or setting the time). I must say my 1815 Lange was a little bit the same (maybe a bit less than you from what I feel in your post) but I must say it was a feeling...

Another alternative..

Mont-Blanc introduced a similar watch to the VC WT with the day night shading at only a fraction of the price... Then again.. VC will always be a VC.. I am so sorry to hear the realiability issues you are experiencing. I personally never own a VC before. ...

I sense an agenda

 By: Tick Talk : December 29th, 2014-10:35
but what's wrong with that? You've devoted some thought and effort to the issue, obviously for a purpose, ie, agenda. I'm not bothered, that is what forums are about IMHO. I can both agree and disagree with your comments/observations... In the auto busine...

speaking of customer service

I've been saving this photo found in Antiquorum's database for such a discussion. It would go some way to lessening the inconvenience of losing your watch to extended warranty service if the brands were to return to the practice of providing loaners like ...

Thanks for your response

when I said I did not have an agenda I was meaning I was not on a VC witch hunt or bashing them as an overall company. Their customer service in response and turn around time for fixing the watch have been fantastic. They have also not charged me for watc...

I guess I can consider myself a VC lover

Given I own 11 of them. And covet several others. But I absolutely understand your comments. I have pieces that perform as you have described. I have found that the 1120 movements and the Lemania movements have performed the best. I like how they wind and...

seeking for perfection..

G'day Joe.. I personally too find the Zeitwerk exceptional in design and refinement and craftsmanship. I went into ALS boutique twice with full intention to buy. However, when I was playing with the watch and trying the watch on, the small "pre-movement" ...

Yes, the quirk of the Zeitwerk

 By: 4Js : December 30th, 2014-04:18
My first experience with a Zeitwerk was at a watchtime event at the Lange booth. At the time Lange did not have a local boutique. And ADs did not have any stock of the watch. I tried on the phantom, which was a love at first sight event. It was dark in th...

Joe, your comments remind me of

the words of a great horologist I had the pleasure of meeting a few years back; Demetrio Cabiddu of Minvera. In the spirit of Purists, I asked him for a response to the occasional criticisms he may receive about quality control. His reply, like yours, was...

I too have a WT in rose gold and find it an exceptional piece. I have never had any problems with it and given your history must consider myself fortunate. But hopefully your problems are behind you and the watch will give you years of pleasure. I wouldn'...

Thank you for your thoughts on your watches, Stewart....

I have owned more than a few watches from Vacheron Constantin, and have had a variety of experiences with how they feel in terms of winding feels in particular. In general, I have always preferred the feel of the manual winding watches over the automatics...

Hi, Stewart,

I have similar feeling as you when winding the watch with the crown at position 0. The feeling of winding is very light. Regarding adjusting the time at position 2, the minute hand indeed felt not very sturdy. I guess it has something to do with the 37 ti...

I wouldn't keep it....

As others said you could probably live with these issues but why settle for a watch with so many annoyances ? Do you have an option to give it back to the AD ? I think that - at this price point and in luxury - you shouldn't accept these faults unless all...
