Patek Philippe, Genève, Ref. 3970P. Very fine and rare astronomic, platinum gentleman's wristwatch with round button chronograph, register, perpetual calendar, moon phases and a Platinum Patek Philippe deployant clasp. Accompanied by Archival papers and stylus. This is an early 1990’s watch and I was told by some excellent sources that when Patek changed to the 3rd series and added the second sapphire back as standard package there was a period of 2-3 years before they did this for the platinum version. Why I do not know, but in the case of this watch which comes with the solid back it does make some sense. Why would it only have the solid back? If it came with both backs it would be only common sense that the sapphire back would be on the watch not the solid one. Case has been lightly polished, hallmarks are excellent, lug definition is excellent. No dings scratches or blemishes. Dial is perfect with no blemishes. Movement runs correctly and all functions work correctly
