What do you think of this Speedmaster? To keep or flip?

Hi I want to ask your views on this Speedmaster. It was an unexpected catch recently. This is a rare two-tone Teutonic Speedy which was auctioned at the famous Omegamania 2007 in Geneva by Antiquorum. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity with auction ...

I'm an Omega collector, but even acknowledging that bias, I'd say hold . . .

. . . unless you find it unappealing. It's not a common reference, and they're hard to find in good condition with their bracelets. Best, Art PS - forgot to ask Bill about your Cosmic last weekend, will bring it up when we speak next over the phone.

Thanks Art! I don’t find it unappealing. In fact I find it quite unique and attractive in a funky 80s kind of way. Just that I wonder whether it is a worthwhile piece to keep as it doesn’t seems very versatile.

The overall condition of the watch and bracelet is actually quite well maintained too. Hope to hear more about the Omega Cosmic from you soon.

Very unusual Speedmaster but very attractive.

If it were mine I would keep it and enjoy it. Regards Kev.

It is a beautiful clean design

You should keep it. I prefer white metal though.

Sell

Sell it. I had one recently. Found it too hard to wind and it was uncomfortable on the wrist. Sell.

Comfort on the wrist and winding is fine with me.

Can I know if your piece is the exact same model as mine? Or the full grey stainless steel model? No offence to owners of the grey stainless steel model, but I find that piece very unattractive.

I know THAT watch very well

aaroniusl, I know THAT watch very well...... You got a good deal compared with the Antiquorum hammer price. Ironically, I'd say: Keep it now. Regards, MTF

Can I find out more information about this piece from you?

 By: singingbee : May 2nd, 2018-18:19
Hey MTF, can I know why you will know this piece very well? I am trying to find out more about the history about this piece. But can’t find much information online. I always thought it’s gold plated as the auction catalogue states so but an expert from Fr...

I only know what the auction documentation says

 By: MTF : May 2nd, 2018-19:24
That was my watch that I bid (successfully???) at the auction online, while drunk with Japanese sake It was sold as steel and gold-plated but I never tested the gold with scratches. If it was gold, it would have hallmarks but none were found. I used the 2...

Haha I did suspect it was your watch from your post!

 By: singingbee : May 2nd, 2018-20:34
Thanks for the information! It seems like the mystery of whether it is gold plated or actual 18k gold is still unsolved. Robert from Fratellowatches actually told me it can’t be 18k gold plated as it doesn’t even exist. I can tell the watch wasn’t worn mu...

Family rules

The current Mrs MTF and I have a 'family rule'. All watches not worn at least once every 18 months will be sold.... :-( MTF
