Some things i like and some things i dont
Sep 05, 2018,19:11 PM
I have to admit that I am also getting a bit sick of all the Omega limited editions that keep on getting released. But what I do like about this one is that it is a bit different. Not since the Snoopy has really been much difference is the limited editions in my opinion. To me they all seem to look very much the same. I like the large font, its different, I like the colours in there, the red and the blue, yes the pointer on the second hand is really a bit silly, serves no purpose and if its a real homage it should be with a bracelet and on a crown guard case. I also like that its 500 only. Most Omega Speedy limited editions now days are 2.000 upwards. So generally I like it overall, there is a difference on this one.

.... and here is a new Speedmaster limited edition
By: VinnieD : September 5th, 2018-07:39
Just one month after the Ultraman, here is another Speedmaster limited... Sold out at Hodinkee... I quite like the use of - the thinner FOiS case, - the grey/blue hue of the main dial - the arabic numbers for a change But the non fonctional colours in the...
Wow. Absolutely hideous mashup

Compared to the beauteuous charm of RJB's Tuesday. The font's too large. Missed opp to use applied logo. Same mistake as the awful so called MK40 version from the late 90s with the seconds track tick length same as fractions makes for poor readability. Po...

I can relate to Ben's story of his Grandpa etc, it's similar for me and I'm sure many others. But I find it a missed opportunity to do something really good. If you are going to do a limited Speedy it didn't need to be this 'Homer - ga' watch.
yeah the only one I want is a reissue of this

with applied logo though... and maybe long indexes adapted in but with a remanufactured 321 or NOS movement. Miranda's old one I miss my old 2998-6 Velociphile ...
I guess I'm in the minority (tiny-ority) as I kinda like it

I understand why most folks would be put off by it: the colors, the non-Lemania 5100 elements (airplane hand) without the functionality (split colored subdial w/out 24-hour hand), etc But for me, as my favorite watch is the Rolex Pepsi GMT-Master I/II wit...
I think it’s pretty nice too.

Just shows how good the original is. But in this version it looks a bit like a Chopard Mille Miglia to me. And I like the Chopard better in this instance.
I have to admit...

the more I look at it, the more I'm liking it! Don't take my Purists card away
I actually ordered one

of the originals back in the day. When it came in to the AD I rejected it for the simple reason you could not read the chrono track.
I dunno...

Not sure about everyone else, but I have Omega fatigue with all the unlimited LEs they keep bring out. The blogger (Hodinkee) collaboration IMHO devalues Omega's luxury image and cheapens their brand. This product will give them short-term marketing hype,...
Yikes

Unattractive to my eye. No appeal whatsoever. Surprised, as I otherwise enjoy Hodinkee.

Did you see Sotheby’s HK watches catalogue? Always funky stuff coming out of Asia. And out of Sotheby’s London, there is a Soyuz Speedmaster!!! That is the only Speedmaster that I deeply care about. As for VC x Hodink, the watch itself seemed fine and I w...
That's exactly where they got the inspiration
By: reintitan : September 5th, 2018-17:24
This Speedy "Mk40" was the first watch the Hodink founder received from his grandfather and what got him interested in watches which eventually led to the website we all know and some love and others hate
I see. Haven’t seen the HDK article yet..

Not exclusive to Omega theses faux LE with no originality have to stop.
By: emcquillan : September 5th, 2018-20:18
It will ruin the mechanical watch industry. I just can't wrap my mind around the short game most brands are playing, unless they've resigned themselves to cash out as quickly as possible because the clock is ticking on the industries viability. I hope thi...

IMHO peedmaster is such a perfect and strong design. It almost always looking good no matter how Omega modify it. This one is just a bit too colourful. Nonetheless the way they keep making limited edition is dillutive to the value.
The second Speedy Tuesday looked nice
By: Geo : September 6th, 2018-04:12
but this is a Luna Park to me, besides that I wonder if all these Speedy models do good to the original model. Who wants another Speedmaster next year. Personally I rather stick with a nice fat Breguet XX. GEO
HODINKEE
By: Brego : September 6th, 2018-04:13
Hodinkee has it’s strengths and I enjoyed reading some of their stuff in the past. But I feel that the more they’ve become a seller/ marketer themselves, the less I trust their opinions and reviews. I appreciate my media being critical and that’s not poss...
