Sputnik, well.....

Dec 01, 2010,12:42 PM

That's a watch, but if i recall it good, only about 10 pieces made for Russian market only,  so even second hand,  impossible to find.
But i agree, there is a long list of great VC watches worth having.
A couple years ago in Paris during the VC diner, they had the mask series, that was something special to, still happy to have seen those.

Best,

Michel

Vacheron Constantin Dinner in Paris, a superb moment!

 By: amanico : December 1st, 2010-02:31
My friends, we had an unqiue experience in Paris last night. Vacheron Constantin organized, as in the last 6 or 7 years, a superb dinner. Our Hosts, the VC Team, and specially Yves Di Martino and Alex, chose one of the most prestigious Parisian Restaurant...

VC does lovely dinners

The word that most often comes to my mind when I think of VC is "elegance." It comes across in their watches, these dinners they organize, the accessories they produce alongside the watches (right, Bill?) and in the people they choose to represent the bra...

Reading in other's mind is my privilege, Respo...

Oooh well, I should not stay in this way, or they will drive me to the psychiatre... I am totally in phase with what you said about Elegance and VC. Even their collectors are elegant people, from what I lived and felt. A superb brand to (re) discover with...

Thank you for the very nice report Nicolas...

Looks like it was a wonderful dinner and a it was attended by many interesting watches and lawyers with the historic salmon dialed chronograph. I assume there wasn't any food at this dinner, just watches for you to feast your eyes on. Thank you Nicolas!

Aaah, Patrick, looking for some food at the " Tour D'Argent " is like

Looking for Virtue in a church... It is just evident that the food was gorgeous, but I'm not sued at all to take pics of food. Watches only! It was an horological and gastronomical feast. Best, Nicolas

Well, my absolute favourite is the Sputnik, Michel ...

 By: amanico : December 1st, 2010-11:42
This watch may speak to you, as an happy owner of the Starwheel. Just after, the Mercator. Then, the Chronometre Royal, this perpetual calendar skeleton ... The list may be even longer next year! As for Yves and Alex, two great " Messieurs ", for sure! Al...

Sputnik, well.....

Yep, this one, and yes, you're correct about the Sputnik.

This will be an extremely rare bird to hunt. I have to confess that even if I admire the work on the Mask Series, they worry me a bit. Best, my friend. Nicolas.

A highly desired watch

Just a pity, it's an automatic executed in WG! Oh why oh why is life this cruel to me?! Stephen

The problem is not that it is an automatic movement, Stephen ...

 By: amanico : December 3rd, 2010-05:38
The problem is that it is a very rare and impossible to get watch! Best, Nicolas.

What a coincidence ...

 By: sw-rick : December 10th, 2010-05:06
I have actually seen this watch in real life in Moscow ... spectacular to say the least! As for the chronometre royal, the burgundy 12 and the regular version are also very desirable. Cheers, Richard

You saw the Sputnik???

 By: amanico : December 10th, 2010-07:38
It is like you tell me you saw a ghost! Nr 1 in my wish list. DEFINITELY! Tell us more, please... Pics? Come on, Richard! Best, Nicolas.

Yes, a few years ago ....

Let me tell you Nicolas, if there is one place on this earth which never ceases to surprise me it is Moscow ... and yes I have seen ghosts there on several occasions! I always feel like the protagonist in a Bulgakov novel when I'm there ... It was a very ...

Ir is indeed difficult to not agree with Alex, even if we have, some very rare times, not the same tastes in watches. A great moment, as usual. Best, Nicolas.

Was certainly the best place to be on the night!

 By: fernando : December 1st, 2010-18:43
Thanks for not showing the food pics. Nicolas. It would have been more agonizing for us spectators who were not privileged to be there. VC has a certain old world charm and "old money" association which works very nicely with the ambience of La Tour D'Arg...

Aaaah, Fernando...

 By: amanico : December 1st, 2010-23:08
We should do it at least once together. We spoke about you, with Alex. The Chrono Malte and the Les Historiques Chrono side by side... Thanks for your answer, Fernando. Best. Nicolas.

You bet Nicolas...

At La Tour D'argent! I miss the ducks there! But i think i shall miss your salmon pink platinum chrono even more! Not that i will have a chance to acquire it one day, unless VC and the future is kinder towards me! Merci for letting me have a taste of the ...

These are fantastic watches which deserve some serious attention, indeed.

 By: amanico : December 2nd, 2010-04:14
But, there is a BUT, they are too small for you, and some of these marvels are automatic... For example, the Les Historiques Chrono in platinum, with the salmon dial, is only 37 mm big. For me, it is perfect, but for you? Best, Nicolas.

Yes, life is cruel, with the BUT always in existence!

And with me and my never compromising principles, it makes it a little tough. BUT, and there is a BUT here too, that I don't think i shall ever change, especially now more so with my fiancee in my life, she agrees as much and even more that I stick to my ...

Looks like a fabulous event!

Each time I see the American 1921, it re-establishes itself as my favorite VC. I love the funky, elegant look of the watch. Great post, Nicolas! Cheers, Daos

Thanks, Daos.
