HELP: Vacheron Contantin Patrimony power reserve

Feb 20, 2013,10:45 AM

I purchased my first VC watch (ref 47200/1, 18k Patrimony power reserve with date).  It has the caliber 1127 movement (auto, 45 jewels) which I understand is based on the JLC caliber 928.

Setting the date: This watch is different from any other that I have.  To set the date, I need to pull out the winding stem and then depress the register.  If I do this, I can advance the date as much as I wish.  If I do not pull out the winding stem, depressing the register will only advance the date by one day - even if I depress the register more than once.  I assume this is a safety mechanism as the watch movement stops when the winding stem is pulled out.  However, none of my other high end watches require this step to change the date by more than one day.

I want to make sure everything is "OK" with the watch.  Is this common for the caliber 1127?  Do all VC watches with date that have a register operate like this?

I can return the watch if I wish so any guidance is greatly appreciated.  I uploaded a picture of the dial and back and can upload more or email better quality images if needed.

Best regards, Troy Duncan

That I will have to find, or ask VC, for the operating instructions on the date change. I hope this doesn't mess up your plans for a return if it is not working correctly. Bill

Thank you Bill

I actually spoke with Vacheron today and the button should change the date regardless of the crown's position. The funny thing is the watch works properly now. I think what happened is somebody must have tried to adjust the date close to the point where t...

Can I ask about the price?
