Vacheron Constantin Malte Chronograph for Dubail.

Jun 03, 2014,14:07 PM

I had the opportunity to see this rare version ( only 30 pièces ) released, i 2009, for Dubail, a well known Parisian AD.

I must confess that when Foversta showed us this version, I was very skeptic, because of the red accents on the dial and ( chronograph ) hands.

It was in 2009.I saw it again, in 2012, and well, I was less shocked by these touches of red.

Now, I changed my mind, a bit.

I find it cool. Would I have preferred it without these red parts here and there? Yes. Would I have preferred it all black? Definitely!

Still, I find it cool, and quite dynamic. I also have to add that I always loved the Malte Chronograph, much more than the one which came after, the Patrimony.

Not too big, with its 41, 5 mm case, it has a lot of charm, I find, due to the 2 registers, a tad too centered because of the size of the movement, and its superb lugs.

It has a lot of presence on the wrist, too, even ore with this black dial.

And a big power of seduction.

Here are the photos I could take:

Best,

Nicolas

Disagree :)

thanks for posting this beautiful watch! I disagree about the red, I think with a light brown croco strap (or burgundy color one), the red accents on the dial would look amazing!! ;) Drooling over this one! S :)

We don't disagree that much, since I confessed I changed my mind.

At the beginning, yes, I was shocked, now I find this Chrono very appealing. Not much disturbed by the Red. And yes, that is a Chrono I would love to add in my collection! ;) Best, S! Nicolas

I think the red accents work very well (similar to the Purists LUC Chrono!), I am definitely a fan!!

This Malte Chrono is a killer!

I believe it is in the same shop whence came a certain Prestige de la France, no? ;-) I love this version of the Malte Chrono, and honestly, if I did not already have my Overseas US Edition, with the similar color scheme and size within 1mm of each other,...

Ha! Always helpful with your suggestions. ;-)

But I need to a little more diversity within my small collection than to have both of these red and black chromos -- unless I decided to make that a theme. Hmmmm.....

Of course the Malte Chronograph for you, respo, is....

That is a superb version. Which I consider, when I have the funds...

This dial is to die for, even if I would have preferred without the wording " Pt 950 " on the dial... But that doesn't annoy me too much. Best, Nicolas

You know me too well. ;-) That is exactly the version I would want. Maybe someday... I have a somewhat funny story about that watch. It turns out that a friend of mine owns one, and I first saw his watch before we had ever met at an event hosted by Vacher...

something dissonant about this piece

Perhaps the combo of sporting dial with classic case shape; the combination seems novel in the extreme. I'm equally confused by this model... Malte US Special Edition ...

Yes, dissonant and, in consequence, disturbing.

The blend of sportiness and elegance... Which surprises first. But we have seen worse! Best, Nicolas.

It is a watch with character

I like the idea to propose a clear alternative to the usual style for this type of watch. At least this LE brings something different. It is the reason why I like this watch. Thanks for the pics & presentation. Fx

This is such a rare VC chronograph that I can't complain! I love its black dial and red accents. The only thing that didn't speak to me so much (to be honest here) is the numerals. I think indices would look cleaner? Thanks for sharing this rare bird Nico...

I don't know, maybe without these numerals, the dial would look a bit too empty?
