A few quick shots of the Patrimony Retrograde Day-Date

Jan 10, 2015,04:56 AM

I just wanted to share some shots of the Patrimony Retrograde Day-Date in Pink Gold.

I am a big fan of the Patrimony line and of the retrograde complication… But here I find the Day-Date to take over too much for my taste.

The Date arc I find OK but why did Vacheron make the Day arc so big? So big that they have to cut the Tuesday to only three letters?

Either way, it is a beautiful watch and a very nice looking automatic movement. As always, the finish of the movement is top, with the Hallmark of Geneva to confirm!

We don't hear much about this one but it has been in my scope for quite a long time. Maybe that for T€.40 asked the movement, although very nicely finished, is quite too "simple" (or small?) for my taste. I can't judge about the double retrograde complica...

I agree on the movement size...

Maybe if they did the opening a tad bigger it would feel better..? Sorry for pointing out the Day issue, hope I didn't "ruin" this one for you now... Best Blomman

No problem Blomman,

It is not so much of a problem :)

A very masculine, sporty offering from VC! Even more off all mentioned with the black dial

I like(d) the RG one shown (very tempting pictures btw!) and since last year the new hero in this category is the black dialled version. Love the complication and although it might be difficult to read with all the hands changing constantly but still I am...

I haven't had the chance to see the black dial in the metal....

But I can imagine it is even more tempting! :) Best Blomman

I chose the earlier version and layout

I liked the black dial with guilloche and the smaller layout of the day. The case size also worked better for me I have not yet seen the latest black dial in the metal. Best, Joe ...

Yup, that would be the ONE!

I would choose the same, Joe. But, of course, yours might be a little challenging to find. ;-) But yes, size, dial finish and layout all work to make this earlier version quite wonderful. Best, respo

That is a beauty, Joe!

How much smaller is it? Best Blomman

Mine, ref 47245, is 37mm

The current version is 42.5mm. Significant size difference. They really become two different watches. Very different personalities. Best Joe

5.5 mm difference?!

Oh, that big difference! Didn't know that. Yes, then I understand it is two very different watches. Best Blomman

This has long been one of my favorites

I actually believe the proportions are "just right". I personally prefer the slightly larger case size of this one over the previous retrograde date model. Also, I like the more "modern" aesthetic in general. Regarding the size of the day arc, I am not su...

Both looks great on your wrist!

You might be right about the alignment of the Day arc, but still - it is something that I know I would "reflect" on each time I would wear it. Best Blomman
