A great photographic report, Robert!

Cool stuff you have tried on. Didn't the 1972 awe you at all (it looks perfectly on your wrist)? Sounds like your heart has been stolen by the Patrimony Tr. PT. Is this what the part two of your write-up will be? You stealing the piece straight from the boutique display???

There are a lot of tempting watch boutiques in a very small space....and I like all the brands you visited (especially the last one). :-) Bill

We are in agreement, Bill. ;-)

Way too much temptation for me! Best, respo

Just back from the spa that day

They did a fabulous job. New strap too, thanks to watchmaker Eduardo's recommendation. Thanks, Joe

Wow, then you are the lucky owner of this beauty?

 By: amanico : April 11th, 2013-04:20
Please feel free to post some pics! I adore it! Best, Nicolas

Yes

Will do separate post Thx Joe

That was my first time seeing the 1912, Nicolas

 By: respo : April 11th, 2013-07:29
And it was a revelation for me. I looked at it under the loupe and noticed the texture of the dial, which is not really visible to the naked eye. The execution of the Maltese Cross on the dial is interesting, not to mention the lovely numerals and the lug...

Yes, and when I think that I had the opportunity to get one more than once!

 By: amanico : April 11th, 2013-07:31
I was silly to not jump on it. It has the reputation to be a bit fragile, though. I have several freinds who own it and who complained about the movement. Best, Nicolas

I had not heard that about the cal.1132

 By: respo : April 11th, 2013-07:36
Between the cal. 1132 and the cal 1003, I have a clear favorite simply based on beautiful architecture, outstanding performance and history. But I am eager to learn more about the 1132.

At least on 5 of them.

Each time, the watch had to be sent for a service... But nothing which has not been fixed and solved by VC, in an impeccable way... Best, Nicolas

That is good to hear

 By: respo : April 11th, 2013-07:41
I recently had an excellent regular complete service performed on one of mine, and VC did a superb job (thank you Eduardo at the NY Boutique!), so I have not doubt that they can fix any problems that may arise. Best, respo

Wow, that was fun!!! For me the surprise was

the blue dial GP!! I have never really appreciated it to this level before. Really stunning. Yes, the plat Traditionelle is a watch that would have made me in-sane a few years ago... when I was purely obsessed with classicism... and it is phenomenal, an i...

I think, Mostel, that the 1972...

...will be a favorite for many. It is outstanding. It successfully marries beauty and unusual design. It is another model within the Les Historiques line that will continue to taunt me. Best, respo

Holly Cannelloni!!!!!! [nt]

We did have a field day!

 By: respo : April 11th, 2013-07:37
Agreed...the dial on teh CR 1907 is...WOW! Best, respo

The magnolias are splendid. Oooooh, Respo and your VC....

Patrimony Traditionnelle in platinum is SUPERB!! Thank you for the pic and thank you Vacheron Constantin for having manufactured it! Cheers, Francois, from The Land Down Under, the Land of Plenty of....pom, pom, pom !

Sadly, the Pt. Patrimony is not mine...

 By: respo : April 11th, 2013-07:39
...although I acted as if it were while I was in the Boutique. Honestly, I fully expect Andre to ban me from the Boutique one of these days for bad behavior. ;-) And I turst yiou are talking about watch porn. ;-) Best, respo

A great photographic report, Robert!

Yes, Radek, sadly...

 By: respo : April 11th, 2013-06:05
...my posts from here on in are from my prison cell. They caught me just as I was passing across the VC Boutique threshold with the Pt. PT strapped firmly to my wrist. Gray is my mood. Now I have only handcuffs on my wrists. :-( That is the reason for the...

How did you find the CR 1907?

 By: Tick Talk : April 11th, 2013-06:16
Nice Robert, thanks for the motivational pictures :-) How was the 1907 CR on the wrist in terms of comfort and presence? I must also confess a secret admiration for that skeleton AP QP :-0 Cheers,

Thanks, Dean

 By: respo : April 11th, 2013-06:31
I have tried on the CR 1907 in the past, and it is very comfortable with quite a lot of presence on the wrist. It is the dial that is showstopper here. 4Js spent a bit more time with that one on our tour this time, so maybe he will chime in. Yes, the AP Q...

Dean, the watch is fantastic

 By: 4Js : April 11th, 2013-10:12
I have several wrist scans but I'm on iPad right now. The dial is killer. Just as good as my Lange Anniversary. From my perspective I would love to have the VC to complement the Lange. I also wished I could see the boutique only platinum version. It is co...

Excellent, Robert!

 By: yesjb : April 11th, 2013-06:24
Some stunning pieces. Now I see I will have a choice to make between the 1972 which I love and the Patr. Trad. which looks fantastic. I will be in NYC this weekend (weather permitting) and will try to get to the Boutique. Thanks for some great watch porn ...

That will be a tough choice for you, Joseph

 By: respo : April 11th, 2013-07:43
But a delicious choice, no doubt. I am eager to see which one lands on your wrist. I am sorry I will miss you once again when you are in NYC. Safe travels this weekend, my friend. Best, respo

Look closely

 By: 4Js : April 11th, 2013-10:05
Respo and myself found the hands on the PT PT far superior to the 1972. From my perspective, the PT is a much better value. I loved the shape of the 1972 on the wrist. If this watch had improved hands and if it were guilloche versus printing, we would hav...

Perhaps it's just my poor eyesight...

 By: yesjb : April 11th, 2013-12:37
But the hands on both watches look the same (sword hands, like the previous Malte Chrono). I believe it is only the LE version of the 1972 that has a printed dial. The regular version with the gold hands has a herringbone guilloché dial. I did see it in G...

We'll need to confirm a few things, Joseph

 By: respo : April 11th, 2013-12:52
The sword hands on the Pt. Patrimony Traditionelle are faceted, with one edge polished and the other edge satin finished. It is a lovely subtle touch that appeared to be missing from the hands of the 1972 that we saw. However, what we saw in the Boutique ...

No, Joseph

 By: 4Js : April 11th, 2013-12:57
dial is printed in both versions. The finish and frosting on the PT PT hands is to die for. 1972 hands are plain Jane, no contrast. I would be interested to see the boutique only 1972, just to compare. It was not availalbe yet. Also, I did not like the co...

Thanks Joe

 By: yesjb : April 11th, 2013-14:54
I did some further checking and you are correct about the dial. It is not guillochéd, which is disappointing. However, it does look quite good nevertheless. I see what you mean about the hands too. Hmmm...maybe it's time to reconsider the Aronde :-) All t...

Thank You Robert !

 By: cisco : April 11th, 2013-06:50
THe 1972 is to die for on your wrist. The Pt Patrimony seems to be really nice too I agree, more calssical though. Was there the "lips" 1954 rectangular watch? Another fabulous rectangular watch imho. cheers Francois

There was one in the case

 By: respo : April 11th, 2013-06:57
But I got no photos of the Aronde 1954. Another of my oversights, Francois. I am with you in your admiration for that watch. I wish there were a white metal version of the Aronde beyond the very limited edition for the Japanese market. That might prove to...

Imagine

a long hunt, a lot of adventures and in the end, that on your wrist ...

Thanks for the post!

Thanks for the post, Respo. I moved out of NY so I'm missed out on the watch week festivities but your post lets me live vicariously. Looking forward to #2!

Sorry you could not make it to Watch Week

As I recall, that is where we met...what was it, last year, or the year before? Hope all is well with you and your 86180. Best, respo
