Reference numbers

Typically, there are two serial numbers which are 6 digits, one on the movement, and one inside the back of the case. Under the 6 digit number inside the case back is a 4 digit number which is the case reference number.

Not all Vacherons are marked this way, many had no case reference number. The movement serial number can be used to date the watch, but not the case serial number.
