There were 2 major problems and 1 minor problem

The first malfunction occurred 2 months after I received it, and involved not being able to set the city reference ring.  All functions of the watch run off the crown which is different than most world timers, and the city ring is adjusted with the crown pulled out one click and rotated counter clockwise.  When it broke it felt like gears were slipping and the ring would not rotate when the crown was turned.  This actually was 2 of the visits as it was not fixed correctly the first time and had to be sent in twice.  Both times it was sent in it was gone for about 2 months.  After getting it back the second time the stop seconds function stopped working, i.e. when the crown was pulled out 2 clcks to set the time the seconds hand did not stop moving as it was supposed to.  I did not send it in for this as it was the only thing not working and I did not want to send it back.  The last major malfunction occurred 4-5 months ago and involved the hour and minute hands not moving when the crown was pulled out 2 positions to set the time.  Again it felt like gears were slipping. The watch was away for 3 months this time.  Until being fixed this last time all the problems seemed to stem from the lack of definitive clicks or positioning when then crown was pulled out to various setting positions.  This problem seems to have been fixed based on how it feels now when the crown is pulled out vs. how it felt before being sent in, so hopefully it will have no problems for the forseeable future.

The issues that you have highlighted seem to indicate that either the caliber is somewhat fragile and not very reliable, especially in the context of the repetitive glitch in the gears or the quality control has been zero. The fact that you even held back...

VC has been very helpful and has extended the warranty
