Yes that is indeed ugly
But much nicer the the current Malte chrono, which suffers from bad proportions stemming from the clumsy widening of the case - the same affliction of the Grande Lange 1.
Yours is a beauty. Many years ago I passed at a chance to buy the silver dial-platinum version and have not seen one since.
