part of coveting psychology

Price is absolutely part of the 'coveting psychology' when it comes to watches. At least I think the (sub-conscience) thought is: Higher price, higher exclusivity.
Of course if you get more into watches and understand more about the quality of finishing and manual labour/skill that goes into watches this will, or can be, a reason for choosing a certain type of watch and a legit reason for paying more.
But brands like Richard Mille, Hublot, etc are (I think) indeed for a large large part making their living because of a clientele that just perse wants to own something (outrageously) expensive (and exclusive). But than again: the watch market is about extreme luxury so if that is a bad thing? Even Mb&F is heading a little bit in that direction now (that robot?). Though in their case you could still righteously argue that it's about the mechanical art.
The big question in horlogerie probably is: Where does mechanical art start? And the minute something is labeled as art anything will go.
So regarding the SevenFriday. I like the design. So I bought it. About the movement: it works, the caseback is closed so nothing wrong there (Hublot pay attention).
In the end people should buy whatever they want for whatever reason they have. There is not much logical reasoning for buying watches is there? It's purely emotional.
note
I am still a novice watch collector. Still have to learn a lot (thanks to you fellow forum members I am learning in shorter time). So what do I know?
