Well, there is a solution...

Get both!
If pressed, I agree with you, Nicolas, the Mercator is probably the one to get. It seems the more iconic example of VC's alternative time display watches. And I think the Saltarello is probably less to everyone's taste than the Mercator series. I love both models, however. The Saltarello is a bit funky, while the Mercator is poetic. I really, really, really hope to add at least one of these to my collection in future years. These are both at the very, or nearly the very, top of my wish list. Ah, but they seem elusive.
Best,
respo

Well, i am going to consider only the ones I own because thinking about the ones I don't own opens up a can of worms as there are just too many to consider. Actually, I think these two do make a near perfect pair for me, and that is what I had in mind whe...

can't do just single pair, so I have broken this down into the following categories: 1. Two that I own (but i am torn, as to me it is like children, and I love all of them - or I would not have bough them!) 2. Two from the past - that are affordable 3. Tw...

I ran our of categories. In retrospect I should have removed the one jump hour and added a Mercator. Thx for your comments and support Best, Joe Ps Don't we just love watches?

I am with you. In my opinion, I like both jump hours, and I really want badly the white gold Saltarello, as I think it is really a beautiful look and totally different than anything else. I could have gotten last year the rose gold version, at a reasonabl...

i feel they do not belong as these pair are tribute to vintages. i view the malte chrono, though having art -decor fan lugs, as a more modern interpretation of a VC chrono, with a larger case and for the platinum model ,a beautifully finished blasted dial...

If I could I would have the platinum skeleton in place of the YG model, but you know life is tough sometimes. **Credit for the image must go to a Gentleman Purist, who I hope won't mind that I used it here. (I believe that it has been posted in this forum...
