I guess I can consider myself a VC lover

Given I own 11 of them. And covet several others. But I absolutely understand your comments. I have pieces that perform as you have described. I have found that the 1120 movements and the Lemania movements have performed the best. I like how they wind and how they set. I am pretty anal and I hate it when setting the time is impossible as the minute hand jumps. I have learned how many turns you need to get to the end without damage or feel. I also have learned the personalities to know when to start winding so the seconds are synced with an atomic clock. Pretty sick, huh? Oh well.
I have many brands that have these idiosyncrasies. I once tried on a GO where the minutes click into position. It was really nice, but I just did not get the feel of the watch compared to. VC or Lange. I got all my crazies answered with the Lange Zeitwerk. Stop seconds and you obviously set the minutes individually. Plus the finish and movement design are killers. Almost a perfect watch except for thickness.
I have an older VC that was recently serviced, yet the crown does not stay out while you set the time, and winding it is stiff and no feel. You worry that you will over wind it.
Then I have a saltarello and Mercator where the real game is setting the time and figuring out how close you can come with the atomic clock to the retrograde jump. Winding both are clean, smooth, and fun.
I have posted many pix of my Lange Emil moonphase which I consider with my VC EP perp chrono to be my two most favorite watches, yet the Emil's crown is just a little too small. Yes, nothing is perfect.
Just like us humans, and the humans who have designed and assembled these marvels, we are not perfect. Our personalities and the personalities of our watches is what makes us all unique and to be enjoyed. Great people and great watches. This forum is home to all.
Best,
Joe
