First I would like to offer my view of your 5970G salmon dial. I have seen, MANY special dial watches, in which not only is there

a color change there is additionally a change in the configuration of the dial. Some of the changes are multiple on the same watch, eg adding one or more of Breguet numerals, luminescent markers and hands, tachometer or pulsations track, upside down moon, a detachable bracelet - the list goes on and on. Your watch has only one change, the color of the dial. So what's so special about that? Somehow that one change transports this watch to the stratosphere aesthetically. The standard 5970 dial IMHO is pretty perfect to begin with, but the salmon color of yours, for me makes your watch perhaps the most attractive of ALL modern Pateks. A strong statement, yes, but a truly mesmerizing watch!
The 5270P salmon no matter how beautiful (or not) it may be in person, will not IMHO in any way diminish your watch's place among Patek's greatest modern watches!
Regarding Patek's taking elements of special/limited/"unique"? watches and incorporating them into standard production watches I feel this is extremely short sighted and a major mistake. Examples: (1) Shortly after the Tiffany 5396G LE black Breguet dial came out, there were 7! watches in the line up sporting black Breguet dials. Even the 5396 to help revive it was given a Breguet (non black) dial; (2) Detachable bracelets on Grand Complications were usually reserved for "unique" pieces. Then came the 5204 RG on a bracelet with a black dial and now 5270 RG on a bracelet also with a black dial; (3) Then there's the 5531 WT MR cloisonné made in 10 pieces for the NY Exhibition last year - highly sought after watch. So what does Patek do at 2018 Basel, they bring out the same watch as part of the line up with a different scene. Couldn't they have at least also changed the case a bit and given it a different reference number to keep the NY model "unique"? I wonder how the 10 owners of the NY 5531 feel about this development?
For me, whenever a LE watch is introduced my first thought/concern is whether a similar watch at a later point (and perhaps not much later) will become part of the regular line up?
For me Patek is still the King, but I find this trend disheartening.
Anyway, great post and and even greater watch - 5970G Salmon!!!!!
